The cleanest electrolytes on the planet

No stevia. No citric acid. No silicon dioxide. No flow agents. Just six electrolytes & trace minerals from whole food ingredients designed for optimal hydration.

Choose your blend

One whole-food foundation. Two ways to drink it

Whether it’s a hard workout, a sauna session, or just life taking more out of you, rehydration takes more than water. We built a whole-food formula with six essential electrolytes and trace minerals from Coconut Water Powder, Salt, MCHA (Bone Matrix), and mineral-rich seawater—designed around real sweat loss to help you rehydrate faster.

What does a whole-food
electrolyte taste like?

Unsweetened tastes mildly salty, with a light hint of coconut. Coconut Nectar mixes tea-colored and tastes mildly sweet, like tea with a hint of coconut.

THE ELECTROLYTE AISLE HAS
AN INGREDIENT PROBLEM
THE ELECTROLYTE AISLE HAS AN INGREDIENT PROBLEM

Artificial sweeteners, natural flavors, and processing aids appear in popular electrolyte formulas. We made different choices. Both blends draw their minerals from coconut water, mineral salt, seawater minerals, and bovine bone. No stevia. No artificial sweeteners. No natural flavors. No flow agents.

Paul Saladino kneeling in a green pasture

I wanted to make the cleanest, most natural electrolyte. We started with minerals from coconut water, mineral salt, seawater, and bone. I just don’t think there’s any reason to consume stevia, artificial sweeteners, natural flavors, and added flow agents.

Where we drew the line

A hand stacking Heart & Soil Electrolytes jars on a blanket outdoors
Natural flavors

What it is:

A label term for a flavoring blend that allows companies to disguise what is in the product.

Did you know?

Some brands have a watermelon flavor electrolyte that has no watermelon listed on the ingredient label. The front tells you the intended taste; the back may say “natural flavors.”

Heart & Soil’s choice:

No natural flavors. The whole-food ingredients named on each jar give it its taste.

Citric acid

What it is:

An added acid that makes drink powders tart and adjusts their acidity.

Did you know?

Commercial citric acid is commonly made by fermenting sugar with Aspergillus niger, a mold, rather than extracting it from real lemons.

Heart & Soil’s choice:

No added citric acid. If you want tart flavor, squeeze in actual lemon or lime.

Research note:

A 2018 four-person case series described symptoms after consuming products containing manufactured citric acid, including abdominal cramping. The authors could not establish citric acid as the cause and called for controlled studies.

Silicon dioxide

What it is:

A fine, manufactured silica powder used as an anticaking food additive.

Did you know?

It shares a chemical formula with quartz sand and the silica in glass, though it isn’t technically sand grains or glass beads. Some food-grade forms are made using acid; others are produced at intense heat. Its job is to keep powder from clumping. It contributes none of the six electrolytes and is not necessary in an electrolyte.

Heart & Soil’s choice:

No added silicon dioxide. Our bovine bone mineral matrix helps the powder flow while supplying calcium and phosphorus, plus boron, strontium, and other trace minerals.

Stevia

What it is:

A high-intensity sweetener made from purified steviol glycosides associated with the stevia plant.

Did you know?

Stevia sweeteners in packaged foods are highly purified compounds, not whole stevia leaf. Documented production methods use heat, ethanol, and separation resins.

Heart & Soil’s choice:

Neither jar contains stevia. Paul’s view is direct: “I just don’t think there’s any reason to consume foods that have Stevia in them. Glucose is not your enemy. It’s your friend.” It also has a distinct taste we didn’t want in either blend.

Monk fruit extract

What it is:

A concentrated sweetener made from the fruit’s sweet-tasting compounds, called mogrosides.

Did you know?

Monk fruit extract can be 100–250 times sweeter than sugar while bringing little or no carbohydrate to the glass. Documented extraction methods use high heat, resins, and ethanol.

Heart & Soil’s choice:

No monk fruit extract. Both jars contain sugar from coconut water; Coconut Nectar adds coconut sugar.

Sucralose

What it is:

An artificial sweetener made by chemically changing sucrose.

Did you know?

It starts with a sugar molecule, but its manufacture replaces three groups on that molecule with chlorine. The result is about 600 times sweeter than sugar without supplying meaningful glucose.

Heart & Soil’s choice:

No sucralose. Our ingredient lists name the sugar sources, and the nutrition panels show the amounts.

Why Heart & Soil includes sugar

Did you know?

For optimal hydration sugar is needed to activate the sodium glucose transport mechanism.

Heart & Soil’s choice:

Taking sugar out of an electrolyte drink, then adding stevia, monk fruit, or sucralose to put the sweetness back, is a strange trade.

Glucose has a job: in the small intestine, SGLT1 (sodium-glucose transport) carries it into intestinal cells alongside sodium and other minerals. Removing sugar removes the mechanism behind how an electrolyte can hydrate you faster.

Sugar has a job to do

The next rep. The next match. The second half.

When the work keeps going, glucose belongs in the hydration equation. It supplies carbohydrate, then moves with sodium through SGLT1 in the small intestine. That creates the osmotic pull that helps water move into circulation faster.

Coconut Nectar adds organic coconut sugar for the work still ahead. The sugar is there by design.

We choose ingredients for the minerals they bring to the glass. We also test to understand what else may come with them, including heavy metals. Choose a blend below to see the testing behind it: what was tested, the lab, the lot, the measured results, and the limits used to assess them.

A FEW THINGS WORTH KNOWING

What comes in an early-access order?

Unsweetened comes in a 30-serving jar and Coconut Nectar in a 25-serving jar. Subscribe and save up to 30%, or buy once. Free shipping on all orders.

Does Unsweetened contain sugar?

Yes. It has 8 g total sugar from coconut water powder and 0 g added sugar per serving. Unflavored does not mean sugar-free.

How are the blends different?

They share four mineral sources, but the amounts differ. Unsweetened is unflavored, with 0 g added sugar and 330 mg potassium. Coconut Nectar is mildly sweet, with 8 g added sugar and 520 mg potassium.

How do I mix it?

Add one serving to 12–16 fl oz of water. Stir or shake. Serve over ice if you like. Add a lime wedge or juice to the unflavored. Add a squeeze of lemon to the coconut nectar flavor for a delightful lemon tea like drink.

How much sodium is in a serving?

Both blends have 950 mg sodium. Sodium is one of the electrolytes lost in sweat; the full label shows the rest of the mineral profile.

When do I drink it?

Mix a serving before, during, or after activity. Unsweetened fits everyday sipping; Coconut Nectar brings more carbohydrate to longer, more active days.

Why is Coconut Nectar tea-colored?

Coconut Nectar turns tea-colored when mixed with water because of the coconut sugar that has been added for hydration and performance support.

Is it vegan?

No. Both blends contain a bovine bone mineral matrix, which adds calcium and phosphorus to the whole food blend.

Where can I see testing?
